BEAVER CRAFT
In the cafeteria we offer a collection of handcrafted trinkets and utility articles. In addition we sell some nature photos made in the surrounding.
All is locally produced of materials such as "beaver sticks", elk- and reindeer skins, horns and more. If you are a bit lucky, you could get a glimpse of these animals here very close to FCC and maybe a souvenir from them would be nice to bring back home.
SHOPPING SERVICE
FCC is situated in a remote area with no shop in the near vicinity. Still more of our guests travel with airplane/bus making it impossible to bring their own food along. For a small fee we now transport you to the local shop at Drevsjø where you could get supplies for the tour.
As a new offer, FCC can supply two large Voyageur canoes for rent. For more information, please follow the link at the front page.
A small kiosk is now established at Fiskevollen, Sølensjøen. Besides ordinary kiosk stuff, you also can buy coffee/"lapper", or bread and fish prepared in the old traditional way. If you need a fishing license for lake Sølensjøen, you can buy it here.
By phoning 971 55 684 you may order fresh milk and bread for the next day. This is a new service we believe will be very popular among our canoeing guests.
We have now added a page called "INFORMATION". A place where we will put all kinds of information without being very much systemised. The page will be updated as soon as we have new information of any kind. Look at Home/Your language/Pictures -Info/Information.
About "Picture of the week":
The fixed camera is placed a few hundred metres south of Skinnarodden (Femundsenden - Sorken) aimed across the lake, towards the Sølen mountain.
A new picture will be taken every week around 10 o´clock in the morning. The thermometer reads in centigrades C. Please mind the "false" reading when the sun shines on the thermometer. Hopefully the view will tell you something about:
The weather: Wet/dry, rain, snow, wind, fog and temperature. Sky altitude could be estimated against the 1.755 m high Sølen mountain.
The lake surface: Waves, snow, ice conditions, including dates for appearance/disappearance of the ice. Approximate water level in the lake.
The seasonal changes.
Interesting comparison to ice conditions at Lake Baikal.
Language:
We choose using English as the main language on our site. This is not because we dislike Norwegian, but because 50% of our gusts come from abroad. Information relevant for Norwegians will be given in Norwegian language only. At "Other languages" you can see our unusual habit, collecting translations of our price list in every possible language. Please contact us if you think you can make a good translation which is not included. There will be no big fee paid out, but you may find your work included on our web site...
